Marita has extensive experience dealing with grief and loss and adjustment to illness and dying after six years as a counsellor and manager of the counselling team at a community based palliative care service.
Marita works comfortably with all age groups and enjoys the challenge of dealing with a wide range of presenting issues.
After working with Centrecare Catholic Family counselling services Marita has been in private practice for five years in Cranbourne, Rowville and Frankston. Marita has completed a course in hypnosis to assist in working with anxiety, trauma and depression. She has also completed a twelve month course in play therapy which greatly assists her work with children.
She uses a variety of therapeutic strategies depending on the issues presented from psychodynamic practise, narrative therapies and solution focussed work through to Cognitive Behavioural therapy. Her current area of interest and training is intensive short-term psychodynamic therapy which was developed by Davanloo and is producing good, lasting results with a wide client base, but especially with anxiety, trauma and depression.
Her special interest is working with grief and loss and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Marita also enjoys working with children and adolescents with her immediate aim of completing her masters in child and adolescent mental health.
Marita is also committed to ongoing supervision and professional development so that clients have access to most up-to-date information.
